Changing the Lives of Women and Girls
Harnessing the expertise and resources of Ghana-based Women’s Health to Wealth, Americares and the Helmsley Charitable Trust, the comprehensive health program is active at these community sites:
- School-based girls’ clubs: Fifty clubs have been established where adolescent girls engage in learning and empowerment sessions to enhance their sexual and reproductive health knowledge and self-confidence. A pivotal aim is to mitigate school dropout rates attributed to early pregnancies.
- Well-woman clinics: Addressing a critical gap in preventative health care, 13 clinics now offer screening and referrals for chronic and sexually transmitted diseases.
- Essential newborn care program: Focused on reducing infant mortality, the program equips health care providers at 100 sites with essential skills in neonatal resuscitation and newborn care, ensuring the well-being of newborns.
- Supply-chain management support: To optimize Women’s Health to Wealth’s capacity to manage supply chain operations and facilitate the efficient distribution of medicines and supplies to health centers, Americares is providing resources, technical assistance, and a cloud-based solution.
